While “preppy” style is trending again with Gen Z and Gen Alpha, it’s had a bit of a makeover. A cousin of the “coquette” and Barbiecore aesthetics, the preppy look trends heavily towards pink and other bright colors, feminine accents, and groovy, 70s retro-inspired designs rendered in a poppy modern color palette. Think pink cowboy hats, frilly bows, hand drawn daisies, smiley faces, and hearts. This youthful, cute, girly aesthetic doesn’t seek to blend in like the more yuppie preppiness of the 2000s.
