A beautifully illustrated non-fiction introduction to the world of birds for independent readers.

An informative and engaging introduction to birds written by wildlife TV presenter and bird watcher, Nadeem Perera.

A stunningly illustrated book detailing everything that makes a bird a bird. Featuring birds from all over the world, and peppered with clear case studies on different bird species and punchy fact files on all things beaks, feathers, migration, nesting and more, the book also closes with a chapter on connecting with birds and becoming a birder.
"This book explores birds and their history, anatomy and features, habitats, and lifestyles while interspersing those topics with facts about various species and explanations of how birds use their unique features to survive in the wild [...] Beautiful images make it easy for readers to forget that this is a reference book for birds and birding as the vibrant colors and the artistic depiction of different birds and their respective habitats make this an incredibly compelling book to peruse. [...] VERDICT This title is a lovely and valuable resource for independent readers looking to learn more about birds and birdwatching in classroom settings."
— SLJ Reviews

"A broad addition to the flock of bird books."
— Kirkus Reviews
Nadeem Perera is a wildlife TV presenter, author, activist and co-founder of the birdwatching collective, Flock Together. Born and raised in London, Nadeem’s love of nature expressed itself at an early age when it helped him to overcome mental roadblocks and trauma.  Since then, his expert knowledge of birds and other wildlife has seen him rise to  prominence in a predominantly white, middle class space. In 2020, together with Creative Director Ollie Olanipekun, he co-founded Flock Together, which encourages people of colour to get out and enjoy nature, support each other and look after their mental health.

Montse Galbany started drawing as soon as she could hold a pencil, and has never stopped since then.

She is an illustrator and graphic designer living in Granollers, a city close to Barcelona. She studied graphic design at ELISAVA University and started editorial freelancing in 2017. Montse works digitally with shapes and vibrant colors to tell stories. Her illustrations are vivid and playful, reflecting her graphic design background and allowing her to create inspiring compositions.
