Postcard Reviews September 2017

Although I am able to crochet.. I am not an expert. Amigurumi is a Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed yarn creatures, and they are so cute I had to give this book a whirl.
Sabrina Somers has made this book very simple. She demonstrates the crochet process giving tips, materials, stitches and 20 patterns. Each monster is adorable, with bright colours and beautiful faces, I am sure there is more than one that will be a favourite. They all stand at 4 inches high, and even though I am not very fast, I made one in a day. The instructions  are easy to follow, the patterns are set in rounds and each round is given, so you can’t get ‘lost’.  There are templates for the facial features and each monster pattern comes with a difficulty rating.. so start easy and advance up.
This book is perfect to start your creative Amigurumi journey. it is a small hardback book which is perfectly sized for your craft bag. The book does not have a step by step pictorial diagram but the guide is self explanatory. I had no trouble with understanding and I followed with considerable ease.
Gorgeous..

A new face in the world of crochet, Sabrina discovered Amigurumi back in 2014. After using a variety of different books and online videos, Sabrina taught herself how to crochet in two weeks. By the end of the same year, she was making her own patterns – and hasn’t looked back! Now Sabrina is the founder of her own website, Sabrina’s Crochet, and she sells her amazing Amigurumi patterns here and via Etsy, Ravelry and Love Knitting. Pocket Amigurumi is her debut book.
Sabrina lives in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
