Introduction

Welcome to 10-Minute Brain Games: Words and Language, packed from cover to cover with many different types of word and language puzzles, all designed to be solvable in around 10 minutes or so.
Full instructions for every puzzle are conveniently located at the bottom of each page, with a sentence or paragraph to give the basic aim and then some bullet points to specify the finer rules of that particular type, if necessary.
There’s a handy area on each page for keeping track of your solving time, which may vary from puzzle type to puzzle type. Each type of puzzle appears six or seven times throughout the book, however, so if you note down your times you can then discover if you get any faster at particular types as you work through the book.
The 10-minute time is simply a general target, and you may find that you take longer on some puzzles. Keep going until you’re finished on those puzzles, or if you’re stuck then sneak a hint from the solutions at the back of the book. These solutions are also useful for checking your answers.
Good luck, and have fun!
