Gerald Forton was born in Brussels in 1931. He studied fine arts in Paris and began his career as an artist in 1950. Forton worked for publications such as Zorro Magazine and Bonnes Soirées. In 1952 he began creating art for the children's magazine Spirou, most notably his adventure serial Kim Devil. Forton continued to work for Spirou throughout the '60s. Forton emigrated to the United States in the early '80s and worked for DC Comics and First Comics. He also did character design and storyboarding for a number of TV series, including Prince Valiant, The Real Ghostbusters, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, and Captain Planet and the Planeteers.
