JAMES HILL has enjoyed over thirty years as a writer/editor in the comics and licensed publishing fields, beginning his professional life as a scriptwriter on Marvel UK’s best-selling TRANSFORMERS comic. He has worked for numerous publishers, including Egmont, Western Publishing and Keesing International, writing stories for such internationally recognised brands as MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, MY LITTLE PONY, THE MUPPETS, THE SMURFS, DONALD DUCK, SPIDER-MAN and POWER RANGERS. For sixteen years he was Editor-in-Chief at Toontastic Publishing (formerly Just Publishing) where he supervised the development and launch of numerous monthly magazines, including CARTOON NETWORK, LOONEY TUNES, BUTT-UGLY MARTIANS, RUGRATS, HOT WHEELS, BEYBLADE and the innovative LUCKY BAG COMIC. As Creative Officer of the Just Group, he helped maintain brand equity in existing properties such as MONSTER IN MY POCKET and developed new character concepts for exploitation in TV, Publishing and Consumer Products. In recent times, he has provided comic scripts and text stories for the best-selling DOCTOR WHO ADVENTURES and is currently putting years spent reading too many comics to good use writing feature articles for MARVEL FACT FILES, THE DC COMICS SUPER HERO COLLECTION, THE MARVEL MOVIE COLLECTION and other comic-themed partworks published by Eaglemoss.
His TRANSFORMERS stories have recently been preserved in commemorative editions by IDW Publishing and Hachette Partworks.
His fondest professional memories involve trying to wrangle the irascible Bungle, George and Zippy, first as a writer and then as the editor of the award-winning RAINBOW weekly comic.
