Siobhán Kilfeather

Siobhán Kilfeather was born in Belfast in 1957. Kilfeather was an enthusiastic academic with a broad range of artistic interests, from gothic literature to gender politics to much more. She was responsible for The Field Day Anthology of Irish Writing, volumes four and five consisting entirely of women contributors. Kilfeather spent two years in the 1980s involved in creative writing and cultural politics in Belfast, before winning a scholarship to pursue a PhD at Princeton University in New Jersey. In the '90s she worked as an English lecturer at Sussex University. She died of cancer in 2007.
