This uplifting, diverse picture book celebrates the first day of school and the many activities that are shared on this special day.

Starting a new school year brings a variety of emotions for children, especially if it’s their first time experiencing formal schooling. We're Going to School presents a day in the life of several children from diverse backgrounds, who engage in many of the same activities on this special day—the sometimes chaotic preparation to get dressed, have breakfast, and leave the house on time; the experience of meeting new teachers and new friends, and learning new classroom rules; and the fun and satisfaction of completing a task correctly. Children will be reminded and reassured that even though new experiences can be scary sometimes, they soon become familiar occurrences, which paves the way for enjoyment.

Critique: The collaborative project of author/storyteller Tammi Salzano and artist/illustrator Morena Forza, "We're Going to School" is a delightfully charming and reassuring picture book for children ages 3-7 -- making it an welcome and unreservedly recommended addition to family, daycare center, preschool, elementary school, and community library collections. --Midwest Book Review
Tammi Salzano grew up in upstate New York and has been involved in children's books for 25 years. She has written more than 50 books for young readers and has edited countless more. When she's not busy searching for a word that rhymes with "together," she can be found baking cookies and taking too many pictures of her cats. Several years ago, she decided to escape the cold weather and now lives with her family in sunny Florida.

Morena Forza spent three years as a pixel artist before becoming a freelance illustrator in 2010, with her work appearing in both trade and educational books, magazines, and puzzles. Morena lives in Turin, not too far from the Alps, with her partner, Luigi, and their dog, Sabrina. When she is not drawing or writing her blog, she enjoys baking, taking long walks, visiting new books shops, and catching up with friends over a nice cup of tea.
