DC Pride: Dream Girls

DC’s award-winning Pride celebration is back—in an all-new format with a feature-length story starring Dreamer and Galaxy, plus can’t-miss short stories from across the DC Universe!

Dreamer and Galaxy suddenly awaken on the island of Themyscira…living their best lives as princess and champion of the Amazons! But wait—weren’t they just having a blowout friendship fight on the Watchtower, right in front of half the League? And who’s this mysterious man that just washed up on their shores, insisting Dreamer leave paradise with him to save the world? And why does this heroic origin story and its increasingly strange and shifting landscape feel both familiar and wrong all at once? It’s almost like…they’re lost in a dream?

The Eisner Award-winning DC Pride, an annual celebration spotlighting DC’s LGBTQIA+ characters, returns with a new format! DC Pride: Dream Girls features a four-part story starring Dreamer (introduced on the Supergirl TV series before becoming a sensation in the pages of DC Comics) and Galaxy (first seen in the original young adult graphic novel Galaxy: The Prettiest Star and now a major part of DC’s core universe), alongside the iconic heroes of the Justice League. This story is co-written by Nicole Maines (who portrayed Dreamer on Supergirl) and Jadzia Axelrod (writer of Galaxy: The Prettiest Star and Galaxy: As the World Falls Down), joined by artists Nicola Scott, J. Bone, Brandt&Stein, and more, each presenting different art styles as the dreamy narrative continues to shift.

Plus, in keeping with DC Pride tradition, this collection includes multiple short stories: a Batwoman story by Greg Rucka and Claire Roe; a Green Lantern Corps story by Morgan Hampton, Steven Underwood, and Alitha Martinez; a Poison Ivy story by G. Willow Wilson and Maria Llovet; and an autobiographical tale from comics legend Klaus Janson.

Collects Justice League: Dream Girls – A DC Pride Event #1-4.
Nicole Maines is an actress, activist, and writer paving the way for LGBTQ+ youth on and off the screen. Maines’s breakout role came on The CW’s Supergirl, where she starred as Nia Nal, a.k.a. Dreamer, making her TV’s first transgender super-hero. She wrote Dreamer’s comic book debut in DC’s 2021 Pride anthology and has since gone on to pen numerous other comics for DC, including Superman: Son of Kal-El #13 with Tom Taylor, Lazarus Planet: Assault on Krypton #1, Harley Quinn, and Bad Dream: A Dreamer Story. Maines has been nominated for a GLAAD Media Award and was a Variety Power of Young Hollywood and Power of Pride honoree. She was also a 2020 Human Rights Campaign Upstander Award honoree for her activism and continues to be a tireless champion for trans rights. Her biography, Becoming Nicole: The Transformation of an American Family, was a Stonewall Honor Book in nonfiction, a finalist for the Lambda Literary Award for transgender nonfiction, and a New York Times bestseller.

Nicola Scott is an Australian comic book artist working primarily in the American industry. With a history in theater and costume design, Nicola started pursuing a comics career in 2001 and by 2006 was the first Australian to become a staple of the U.S. mainstream. She quickly became a fan-favorite, working exclusively for DC Comics on iconic characters such as Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman and team titles Birds Of Prey, Secret Six, Teen Titans, and the New York Times bestseller Earth 2.

2016 saw the launch of her critically acclaimed creator-owned Image Comics maxi-series Black Magick and DC’s Wonder Woman: Year One to celebrate the character's 75th anniversary, both in collaboration with writer Greg Rucka. Also in 2016, Nicola partnered with DC Comics and The United Nations to create the key art for Wonder Woman’s Honorary Ambassadorship For Women and Girls.
